PRACTICE
AREAS
MEDICAL CASE MANAGEMENT
This is crucial in the role of rehabilitation. Close monitoring of medical treatment and coordinating medical care can result in less lost time to the employer and substantial cost savings. The goal is to assist the injured worker in obtaining appropriate medical care, reach maximum medical improvement and return to work at the earliest possible time. The process requires objective assessment, planning, organization and coordination with referrals and monitoring of the services requested to respond to an injured worker's health care needs. Constant contact with the employer is essential to keep the employer apprised of the injured worker's medical progress.
LIFE CARE PLANNING
A life care plan is vital when an individual suffers a catastrophic injury or has chronic health care needs. The life care plan provides an estimate of the costs associated with the future health and medical care. A life care plan provides a clear concise summary of the estimated costs with a breakdown of the various cost factors. Each life care plan is unique to the individual and research is conducted for each life care plan to determine the costs and expenses for the future health and medical care. As part of the plan, there is a summary that sets forth an easy to understand analysis of the medical status of the individual and an assessment of the future health and medical care costs.
LEGAL NURSE CONSULTING
A legal nurse consulatant (LNC) serves as a liaison between the insurer, attorney, physician, and client. The LNC evaluates, analyzes and renders informed opinions on the delivery of healthcare and the resulting outcomes. A LNC offers support in medically-related litigation and other medical-legal matters such as worker’s compensation, risk management, personal injury, product liability and medical malpractice.
WHAT IS A LIFE CARE PLAN
The Life Care Plan is a dynamic document based upon published standards of practice, comprehensive assessment, data analysis and research, which provides an organized, concise plan for current and future needs with the associated cost for individuals who have experienced catastrophic injury or have chronic health care needs.
